The je ne sais quoi that Black teachers contribute to student learning environments is essential to the success of PreK-12 public-school systems. Historically, Black teachers have adopted dual roles as surrogate parents and student advocates who wield their influence in the classroom as vehicles for social change. Through sophisticated and transformative pedagogy, Black teachers nurture the global self-esteem and aspirations of students by teaching students to master academic content, expose students to academic opportunities and pathways and teach them how to use tools of democracy.Provide professional development services and support to Clark County School District educators.
