Congratulations! SNBEI is deeply appreciative for your willingness to participate in our program and contribute to our mission of supporting and retaining the college’s Black students and demonstrating a strong commitment to racial equality, healing, and Black liberation. As a mentor or mentee in this program, your participation indicates that you agree to our collective community agreements. You recognize the responsibility and commitment that you’ve accepted in choosing to be a part of this program and agree to always interact appropriately with and according to the highest ethical standards.
By accepting and committing to participate as a mentor or mentee in our program, you are agreeing to abide by the guidelines and ethical code of conduct. Failure to abide by the guidelines and code of conduct may result in immediate termination as a mentor or a mentee.
SNBEI reserves the right, at our sole discretion, to change, modify, add, or delete portions of this community agreement at anytime without further notice. If any amendments are made, SNBEI will notify the mentor/mentee in writing within 24 hours of the change.
All participants in this program agree not to engage in any tortious or criminal activity. Furthermore, SNBEI will not tolerate, under any circumstances, without any exceptions in any form of:
Discrimination based on race, creed, religion, color, age, disability, pregnancy, marital status, parental status, veteran status, military status, domestic violence victim status, national origin, political affiliation, sex, predisposing genetic characteristics, and any other status protected by law.
Harassment and/or any behavior that is unwanted and offensive to the recipient, which may create an intimidating, hostile, unsafe, or humiliating environment.
Sexual harassment and/or any unwelcomed sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature.
MENTORS AND MENTEES
By participating in the Amplifying Black Voices Critical Mentorship Program (ABV); I agree to:
Treat others with compassion and respect.
Put forth genuine effort and commit sufficient time towards each mentoring relationship established.
Abide by the commitment of dates for the mentoring/mentee group.
Meet with mentor or mentee at least four times throughout the commitment dates (in person or virtually) to discuss goals, challenges, and opportunities.
Network with other students and education leaders.
Maintain confidentiality in the mentor/mentee relationships.
If at anytime the mentor/mentee relationship is not beneficial to either party, respectfully communicate that to the SNBEI mentoring program administrator.
Represent oneself honestly and unapologetically.
MENTORS
As a mentor with ABV, I agree to:
Encourage my mentee to maintain the highest ethical standards.
Maintain a high standard of personal and professional conduct with my mentee.
Support the goals of my mentee and educate them on resources to further support their goals.
Always communicate in a respectful, truthful manner.
Avoid unethical or compromising practice relationships, actions, and communications.
Seek assistance from the mentoring program administrator for issues or questions if unable to provide accurate clarification and or answers.
Meet with each assigned protege at a minimum of 4 times or 15 hours per semester.
Log each meeting/interaction with assigned proteges in ABV Time Tracker and submit google folder link to info@snbei by the end of designated semester.
MENTEES
As a mentee with ABV, I agree to:
Completion of a three-hour ABV welcome course
Meeting with an ABV mentor (virtually or in person) a minimum of four times during the semester
Proactively and genuinely build within my mentoring relationship.
Express myself regularly, freely, respectfully, and honestly with my mentor.
Honor my commitment with my mentor.
Complete any tasks agreed upon between my mentor and myself.
