DeCuba Porter

Karla Powell has been a Title I middle school English Language Arts teacher for the last nine years for the Clark County School District. Her fluency in Spanish facilitates a strong connection with students, families, and the community. She is committed to not only teaching culturally relevant content standards but also deeply invested in helping students understand the world they live in and how to make it better. More recently she was a Program Manager for an ed tech start up where she coached and trained early childhood education providers on how to establish and maintain their own preschool programs. Her formal educational background is in Sociology and that training informs her practice every day.
