Our Mission
SNBEI was established with a clear mission to reduce Clark County's racial educational attainment gaps by focusing on the recruitment and retention of culturally responsive, highly-skilled Black teachers. Our organization is committed to empowering Black educators and aspiring teachers through a multifaceted approach that encompasses exposing the community to the uplifting impact of teachers of color and investing in human capital, providing a supportive and empowering affinity space for current and aspiring Black educators, legislative advocacy, meaningful professional development and teacher training, mental health support, and critical mentorship.
Our Vision
We envision an innovative, transformative, and culturally affirming public PreK-12 system that not only facilitates upward socioeconomic mobility but also ensures successful outcomes for Black students. We firmly believe that representation matters and that having a diverse teaching workforce is crucial for creating an inclusive educational environment. Through strategic planning and partnerships, SNBEI aims to dramatically increase the number of Black licensed professionals in the Clark County School District from the current 7.3% to an ambitious goal of 25% by the year 2030.
